My name is “Pete” Petit, and this is my official website. This website was developed in 2014 at the request of some of our large shareholders at MiMedx. The majority of the materials that are on the website were placed there between 2014 and 2017. I have recently made some minor updates. Plus, I have added information relative to my recently published book, which is entitled The Entrepreneur’s Dilemma. That information can be accessed by clicking on the book title on the home page.

Please understand that some of the information on the website is dated because I have been in semi-retirement since mid-2018.

I am a healthcare serial entrepreneur with a history of developing companies from their emerging stages and leading them to maturity and significant statue in their respective markets. Four of our entrepreneurial companies became publicly traded because I felt they could trade more efficiently with better analyst coverage as standalone companies. These organization all went on to be acquired by larger business enterprises. In May of 2008 Matria Healthcare, the last of these businesses, was sold for 1.2 billion.

I graduated from Georgia Tech where I received my B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering on the co-op program, which allowed me to work on alternate quarters in order to fund my college expenses. I also received my Master of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics before I went into the military to fulfill my ROTC commitment.

After the formation of my first company, I obtained my MBA degree in Finance from Georgia State University by attending classes at night.

I have been inducted into the Georgia Tech Engineering Hall of Fame and the Georgia State Business School Hall of Fame. I was also inducted into the National Academy of Engineering in 2012.

I believe we are on this earth to serve our fellow man; therefore, I have been deeply involved in philanthropic activities over the last 40 years. These include the funding of a professorial chair for Engineering in Medicine and the endowment of the Petit Institute for Biotechnology and Bioscience at Georgia Tech. I also contributed to the funding for the biotechnology building, which carries my name. In addition, I contributed to the funding of the Science Center building at Georgia State University, which also bears my name. My other charitable activities include my churches and other faith-based groups, SIDS organizations and our veterans.

This website will provide some information and documentation on all of the companies that I was involved in founding and managing over my 48 years of entrepreneurship.
