This is the SECOND EDITION of The Entrepreneur’s Dilemma. There has been a very important development since the first edition of the book was published in the spring of 2024. Thus, I felt I should update it to reflect that event which will eventually affect a number of the issues outlined in my book.
This important event was the reelection of Donald Trump as our 47th President. His appointment of Pam Bondi to be our Attorney General should begin to produce significant changes in the way our Department of Justice has operated, particularly during the last four years.
Thus, I have taken the opportunity to make some minor changes in the book, which should more clearly explain and highlight some of my previous comments about the weaponization and politicization of our Justice Department.
A Cautionary Tale of Lawfare and DOJ WeaponizationThis book is the remarkable story of a man who built and managed five publicly traded companies over a 48-year career. More than just an autobiography, The Entrepreneur’s Dilemma describes how a personal tragedy launched Pete’s first company. Despite limited capital, Healthdyne was a success. Pete harnessed this winning formula and applied it numerous times to build four other companies. But despite all his accomplishments, he was blindsided by a new type of problem with his final company.
The core of Pete’s narrative revolves around his tumultuous experience with his last and most successful company, MiMedx. As CEO, Pete faced aggressive and corrupt short-seller attacks, coupled with the Sally Yates law firm that fabricated claims against him and his executives because of his political support for President Trump. This book exposes the harsh realities of today’s lawfare—the weaponized and politicized legal system that the DOJ can use, thanks to the Sally Yates Doctrine, to target a business and its top executives.
